Nathan and I have never been buddy, buddy with our neighbors. Not that we don't want to be, but we usually wave and say hi and go about our way.
The not so nice neighbor.........
Not too long after we moved in, our back side neighbor, oh so nicely pointed out that Toby was a nuisance. Apparently he barked uncontrollably and tried to bust down the fence and attack them.......hmmmm. Ok, Toby is a very big dog and can be very scary looking, but he has never tried to attack a person or even knock down the fence. I will give them credit to the barking though b/c he was horrible with the barking. Within in just a few days Toby was living inside.
**Fast forward 3 years**
These same neighbors now have a dog and that dog barks uncontrollably and has chewed through the fence in 3 separate spots. Because of the holes we have to take Toby out on a leash (in our back yard) in order for him to do his business. A few weeks ago, their dog chewed through 3 boards, they left a note on our door admitting fault and said they would repair the damage. The guy told Nathan he would have it done within a week. This past weekend had been 2 weeks and at this point the damage had gotten worse and their dog was now able to freely pass between our yard and theirs. See, the problem with this is that Toby has no problem with humans, but when it comes to other dogs, he's not so nice, matter of fact, he's down right mean!
Ended up we had to go buy boards, Nathan had to nail them up and not once did the guy come outside and apologize or even acknowledge that we fixed the fence. It's not that we minded doing it, but don't leave a note saying you are going to fix it, if you aren't. Just rude!
On to our very kind neighbor story....
During our most recent snow "storm" several shingles were blown off the house. We have a neighbor a few houses down who is a roofer. So, Nathan called his company and asked for an estimate. The guy realized he was our neighbor and was over within a few hours checking our roof. Within 2 days he personally patched our roof and refused our money!!! I couldn't believe it. This type of thing usually costs $300-$400 and he wouldn't take a dime! If you are ever looking for a roofer, let me know I will give you his contact info.

I was out chatting with one of our neighbors this evening... we are rarely buddy buddy as well... Zoey happened to be fetching the ball in the front yard and she was out with her kids... Anyway, she proceeds to tell me the other moms on the block have a nickname for me-- Trixie?! The girlfriend of SpeedRacer because of how fast I drive down our street... Seriously?! They aint seen nothing yet!!! Especially because I really do drive carefully... the car just has a loud engine :)
